Home » Hair » How to Do The Mermaid Braid

Since arriving in Birmingham, I have to say the weather hasn’t really been the nicest! Lately it’s been so wet and windy that anything I try to do with my hair gets ruined the moment I walk out of the door! I believe I’m not the only one feeling this way, so here’s a pretty simple hairstyle I’ve recently learnt. As long as you tie it well, it will last against even the strongest of British winds!

The mermaid braid in 4 simple steps!

Step 1

Start by brushing all your hair down. Grab two equal pieces of hair from each edge, as in the picture below.

Step 2

Overlap the pieces of hair from each side one over the other. Keep repeating this process with two new pieces of hair from each side.

Step 3

Keep grabbing small pieces of hair from each side and intertwine them with the ones you did just before. Repeat until you reach the end of your hair.

Step 4

Tie the end of the braid with an elastic band and you’re finished! Try it, I promise you’ll love the result! And by the time the wind is gone (if the wind in Birmingham ever does leave!) you’ll be a master of these braids. Ready for a summer on the beach, wearing a beautiful and truthful mermaid look!
