Home » Makeup » How to Make Your Makeup Heat-Proof For The Summer Heatwaves

We’ve been experiencing some crazy heat waves this past week and when the weather heats up, the last thing you want to deal with is your make-up running off your face. Luckily, the new wave of waterproof products are highly effective and utterly gorgeous:

Heat-proof makeup

Left to right: Rimmel Lasting Finish Foundation, Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stain, Cargo Water Resistant Blush, Benefit Stay Flawless Primer, Maybelline The Colossal Volum’ Express Mascara

Primer

Benefit Stay Flawless Primer
Boots – £24.50

If you’re set on wearing foundation even when it does warm up, then a primer is a must. Not only will it help stop your makeup from sliding off immediately but it will also extend the life of your makeup too, allowing for a full day of wear without any touch-ups. Benefit’s Stay Flawless Primer is excellent.

L’Oreal Resurfacing Primer
Boots – £14.29

For for a cheaper alternative, you can try L’Oréal’s Studio Secrets Smoothing Resurfacing Primer.

Urban Decay Makeup Setting Spray Feel Unique - £21

Urban Decay Makeup Setting Spray
Feel Unique – £21

Not into the heavy duty stuff? Urban Decay’s Makeup Setting Spray is a lighter option which works well if you use it before and after makeup.

Foundation

Estee Lauder Double Wear Light
Boots – £29.50

I would always recommend a lighter alternative for summer, such as a CC cream or a tinted moisturiser. However if you’re not confident enough to go without foundation, then try to pick one which has long staying power. Estée Lauder Double Wear Makeup has an incredible formula that just will not budge.

Boots Rimmel Lasting Finish 25 Hour Foundation

Rimmel Lasting Finish
Boots – £7.99

For a less expensive version, try Rimmel’s Lasting Finish 25hr Foundation.

Eyes

Maybelline Color Tattoo
Superdrug – £4.99

For colour, a cream eyeshadow is your best bet. Maybelline’s Color Tattoos have a formula that sets almost immediately after you put it on and the staying power is fantastic. For an easy, summer look, you can use them alone or for a more intense look, use as a base and layer on powder eyeshadow.

Rimmel Exaggerate Liquid Eyeliner
Boots – £5.29

For eyeliner, opt for a liquid liner which is sharper and less likely to smudge with a waterproof formula; Rimmel’s Exaggerate Waterproof Liquid Eye Liner performs excellently.

Maybelline Mascara Volume Express
Superdrug – £6.99

As for mascara, most brands offer waterproof versions of their best sellers but Maybelline’s Volum’ Express The Colossal is great choice.

Blush

Daniel Sandler Watercolour Blusher
Feelunique – £15.50

It is a little more tricky to find waterproof versions of cheek colour and the likeliness is that your cheeks will be flushed from the sun anyway. If you do want to ensure all-day colour though, try Daniel Sandler’s Watercolour Crème Rouge Blusher.

Cargo Waterproof Blush
Debenhams – £19

Alternatively, Cargo’s Water Resistant Blush is another fantastic option – colour choice is a little limited but the shades they do offer are super pretty and wearable.

Lips

Hourglass Liquid Lipstick
Space NK – £23

For a strong lip, try a liquid lipstick which goes on creamy but dries to a matte finish. Hourglass do a fantastic formula which is loved by the likes of Jessica Alba. If you’re set on using your favourite lipsticks, use a lip liner to both outline your lips and fill them in; then layer your lipstick on top for an intense colour that lasts and lasts.

Revlon Just Bitten Kissable
Superdrug – £7.99

For a more relaxed look, try a balm based colour such as Revlon’s Just Bitten Lipstains which have great colour pay-off but are moisturising too.
